Christmas Letterbox Drops 2026: Deadlines and What to Send

Oct 22, 2026

The last letterbox drop that lands before Christmas 2026 goes out in the week of Tuesday 22 December. To make it, book by Thursday 10 December, or by Thursday 3 December if we’re printing your flyers too.

December is the busiest month of the year for letterboxes. Retail catalogues, Christmas menus, holiday trading hours and new-year offers all compete for the same space, so the earlier weeks fill first. Here are the dates, then what tends to work.

Christmas and new year deadlines

Each run is delivered across the week that starts on the Tuesday shown. Deadlines are 12pm AEST.

Runs carry on weekly through January. The weeks of 23 November and 30 November are peak catalogue season nationally, so book the runs around them early. We confirm your exact dates with your quote.

Which week to pick

  • Christmas shopping and gift offers: the weeks of 1 or 8 December. People are still planning, and your flyer has two or three weeks to work.
  • Christmas menus, functions and catering: 1 December at the latest. Work parties and family lunches are booked well before the week itself.
  • Holiday trading hours and last-minute offers: the week of 15 or 22 December.
  • New-year offers: the weeks of 29 December or 5 January. Gyms, tutoring, real estate appraisals and home services all do well when people are home and making plans.

What works in December

A December flyer has a lot of company in the letterbox, so it has to earn its place in seconds.

  • Put a date on the offer. “Book by 18 December” gets a response. “Ask about our Christmas specials” does not.
  • Make one thing the headline. Your best offer or your trading hours, not both at the same size.
  • Give it a reason to stay on the fridge. Holiday opening hours, a January booking calendar or a menu with prices all get kept.
  • Make it easy to act. A phone number, a short web address and a QR code, so you can also see what the drop brought in.

A DL or A5 flyer is enough for most December offers. If you’re not sure which size suits yours, see A4 vs DL vs A5.

Who drops in December and January

How many homes, and what it costs

Our minimum run is 10,000 homes, and 10,000 homes costs about $1,085 + GST to deliver, including the booking fee and fuel levy. Every suburb page on this site shows how many homes it has and the nearest 10,000-home run around it. Full prices are on our letterbox drop cost page.

One drop rarely does it on its own. If December matters to you, a drop in early December and another in January usually beats one big drop in the busiest week. See how many letterbox drops before it works.
